I have been seeing this trend lately that the same location is broken into over and over again, possibly by the same criminals. I have several friends whose homes were broken into multiple times during a 6 month stretch. Businesses in and around Atlanta, such as Standard Bar, eModa and Urban Body Fitness, have been hit at least 3 times each. Many of these homes and businesses have security systems and some even had security personnel on premises. While most of these break-ins where simply to steal merchandise or valuables, one of the robberies at the Standard Bar resulted in the bartender being shot to death during closing.
A recent AJC article mentions some of the stolen goods being recovered during a drug bust by APD. The article mentions that there were guns and ammunition recovered along with the stolen merchandise. This is no surprise to most but should be a reminder to the residents of Atlanta that the common thugs breaking in to their homes to steal flat screen TVs are armed and won’t be deterred by alarm systems.
